BtN “Fashion Waste”

Red is Facts.

Blue is Insights.

Green is a question.

Black is a summary.

This btn was about how Australians waste a lot of unwanted clothes by putting it in land fill. Three facts I learned were that Australians buy about 27 kilos worth of clothes each year. 85% of unwanted clothes end up in landfill. Clothes that are in landfill which are made of polyester can take about 200 years to turn to soil. An insight I had was People like to buy new clothes because of the season or trend. Two questions I have are I wonder how many people know it’s bad for the environment? And why is Australia the second biggest fabric consumer in the world?
